The story begins in Tucson, Arizona - 1913. For many years, an asylum Doctor suffered from chronic insomnia, and horrifying night terrors. He searched to end this misery. During his quest he turned towards some of his mental patients who were under his psychiatric care. He hoped that monitoring their sleep patterns might provide him valuable insight into his own condition. The study began slow with the Doctor monitoring each patient's brain activity at night, and comparing this with their behavioural traits during the day time. The Doctor did this with some of his most dangerous, and violent patients. Each session became more and more aggressive... with the patient's lashing out while awake, as well as in their bizarre nightmares. Unfortunately the Doctor could not easily distinguish between the aggressive behaviours from the patients' and their already established psychiatric conditions. Unsatisfied with his findings, he wanted to go more in-depth with his somatic studies. Months passed by before the Doctor finally found what he was seeking. His research revealed an impressive correlation between actual brain activity related to fear during deep REM sleep, and the propensity for violent actions during waking hours. His advanced findings gave him some hope, and encouraged him to take things a step further. In order to gain more scientific data, the Doctor snuck some of the most disturbed asylum subjects to his own house. He went to work on creating an invasive brain wave monitoring machine. Within the asylum, he found electrical instrumentation, and some strange probes which were no longer being used. He pieced the crude parts together, and created a powerful device. Still crazed by his sleepless nights, he frantically sought a way to attach his machine to his patients. As his dark side took him over... he could not stop himself from using his surgical knives to cut deep into the back of his subjects skulls. Using his surgeon skills, he managed to keep them alive and actually wire the probes to the back of his patients' cranium. This invention allowed the Doctor an incredible first hand perspective into the tormented, and torched dreams of the sleeping subjects. As the Doctor perfected his new somatic probe... he found that the dreams of the subjects became more and more realistic, almost tangible. Though the research revealing dark and fascinating results, he was still unable to resolve his ultimate goal and cure his own insomnia. Pure obsession drove him to a point of no return. Viewing these terrifying dreams caused the Doctor to lose the ability to differentiate between the dream world and reality. One night, he lost his mind. He took his nightmare studies one step too far. His insanity, and continual tampering with is brainwave experiments caused something to go terribly wrong. Dreams have come to life!! The Doctor's house became an evil domain which draws demonic forces, and soulless beings to the house. The Nightmares seek their victims, and feast on their greatest fears! The misfortunate fate of this somatic study is now reality. Their blood curdling screams can be heard into the street. The strange supernatural forces, and the perpetual nightmares can be experienced by all who enter. Welcome to The Nightmare...
Be warned, this is real, and not for the
faint of heart.
